Do You Have the Fever, CABIN FEVER!?!

For the month of February we will be featuring New Glarus Cabin Fever Honey Bock on tap for only $3.50 a pint! We will also feature Fat Squirrel and Two Women. If you are looking for a beer with a crisp, clean taste and lots of flavor this is the beer for you!

Cabin Fever is one of New Glarus’s famous seasonal beers. Its is made with natural sweet Clover Honey which makes this pale bock release a warm flavor in your mouth.

If you aren’t quite sure if you’ll like this beer you can always ask one of our friendly bartenders or servers for a sample.

We will be holding a New Glarus beer tasting on Thursday, February 9^th from 5-7 p.m. which is a perfect time for you to come in try not only Cabin Fever, but other New Glarus brews.

New Glarus Brewing Company was established in 1993 in New Glarus, Wisconsin. Wisconsin can be proud to say this brewery is “One of the Top Ten Breweries in the World!” They brew beers such as Moon Man, Fat Squirrel, Wisconsin Belgian Red and Raspberry Tart.

Recently, I was talking with a distributor during our weekly visit. He was paging through his book of craft beer listing, when I noticed a small logo. It was the Schlitz logo. Yes, I'm referring to the beer-- "Shlitz will give you the shitz." Or more formally known as "The beer that made Milwaukee Famous." I immediately stopped the page turning and inquired about the beer and it's packaging. When I'm out with my friends and we see the Shlitz "Tall Boys" we get giddy. We disregard our quest to try the newest, hippest craft beer—losing all sense of sophistication and swallow down the "Tall Boys."

Joesph Schlitz Brewing Company was once the world's largest producer of beer. Joseph Schlitz took over the brewery of his boss, August Klug, when he died in the mid 1800’s. Schlitz exploded on the beer scene amidst the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. After most of Chicago’s brewers were captured by the tragedy, Schlitz donated thousands of barrels of beer, establishing a large presence.

Until the 1970’s Schlitz was one of the leading brewers in country, until they started using other, more efficient brewing techniques. The response from consumes took Schlitz off the map in the beer world. The quality deteriorated and so did the demand. After being bought out by Pabst, they recently returned the beer to its original formula. Since, the reintroduction, using the old cans and style, the beer has been able to capture old drinkers and attract new ones as well.

Discovering that we were able to get the ”Tall Boys” at Holidays was fantastic, throwing one back was sensational. If you haven’t had the re-invented Shlitz, try it. If you were a fan and didn’t like the beer when the formula was changed, try the retro Schlitz, you won’t be disappointed.

This month we are featuring beers from Goose Island Beer Company. Goose Island is a brewery and brew-pub located in Chicago, IL.

The two beers we have featured at Holidays are:

Mild Winter Ale (draft): Toffee brown, medium-bodied, with a creamy head and an aroma of raisins and freshly baked dark bread. Mild Winter’s rich caramel malt and spicy rye flavors are sure to take the bite out of whatever Old Man Winter brews up for you this year.

Honker's Ale (bottle): Inspired by visits to English country pubs, Honker’s Ale combines a fruity hop aroma with a rich malt middle to create a perfectly balanced beer. Immensely drinkable, Honker’s Ale is not only the beer you can trust but one you’ll look forward to time and again.
